Newbie

So this is my first "blogspot" post. I was really inspired by the "Do The Write Thing For Nashville" that I made one so I could help contribute to the generous cause. Reading all the auction posts and seeing everyone anxiously bidding and the generosity of the donors made me review why I love authors and books and support them 100% more than movie stars/movies. Books are made through hard work, sweat, blood and tears. They are personal, made from the mind of regular people with gifts...gifts for writing. Authors are personable, down to earth, and don't let their fame (Best Sellers List? Awards? etc.) go to their heads. They are willing and ready to connect with their readers, give to charities, answer questions etc. Movie stars let the fame of becoming successes and winning awards go to their heads and a lot of times aren't easy to relate too. I feel Authors should get more recognition for their work. I know personally I treasure my books way more than movies. I wouldn't think twice about letting a friend borrow something off my flimsy movie stash on the bottom shelf of my bookcase. If they were to ask for a book...I have a hard time parting! Usually a good-bye ceremony is called for and I do daily check-ups to see how they are doing. I guess I'm just impressed with the writing industry--Authors in general. Thanks :)
